New Name!

Well, if you haven't noticed by now, my blog has undergone a name change as well as a change of layout! :) For a few weeks now, I've felt like I needed a change, and this is it. Plus, I don't know, I'm kind of indecisive when it comes to names, so I'm not even sure if this will be the only time I change it.

But yeah, I really just wanted to post to let you guys know, just in case anyone gets confused! I also hope that this layout is readable (I'm not really good at any kind of design/colors), but if it isn't, feel free to leave a comment with advice. :)

Musing Monday #1

Musing Mondays is a weekly meme hosted by Should Be Reading.

This week's musing asks:
Do you listen to audiobooks? Why, or why not?

I personally have never listened to an audiobook before because I have just never thought of picking one up. I honestly don't know if I would even be able to pay attention to one. I'm able to concentrate on reading because it sucks me into the story, but when have to actually listen to something, my mind tends to wander. Plus, I like being able to imagine how the characters' voices sound in my head; with an audiobook I think the narrator would distract me too much. However, I've heard of some people listening to audiobooks while driving, and that sounds like a great idea. I think I may just have to get an audiobook so I can try it out sometime.

Fallen by Lauren Kate

Rating: ☆☆ [2]
Release date: Dec. 8, 2009
Publisher: Delacorte Press
Format: paperback
Source: bought
Pages: 452
Series: Fallen (#1)
Challenge: --
Summary:
There's something achingly familiar about Daniel Grigori.

Mysterious and aloof, he captures Luce Price's attention from the moment she seems him on her first day at Sword & Cross boarding school in Savannah. He's the one bright spot in a place where cell phones are forbidden, the other students are screwups, and security cameras watch every move.

Except Daniel wants nothing to do with Luce-he goes out of his way to make that very clear. But she can't let it go. Drawn to him like a moth to a flame, Luce has to find out what Daniel is so desperate to keep secret...even if it kills her.
I'm still not exactly sure how I feel about this book. I didn't particularly like it nor did I dislike it, and I had a hard time rating it. Overall, it was mostly an okay book, although there were some parts of the book when I wanted to smack the main character, Luce, because she was missing the obvious or she was just acting dumb in general.

I think a big reason why I didn't like Fallen was because it was pretty predictable. I felt as if I had read it before. I mean, I didn't even find the main love interest that entertaining. Daniel doesn't really stand out compared to some of the other love interests from other books of the same genre. I felt like the book had a lot of overused cliches.

But despite that, there was still something about the book that made me want to keep reading - even if I wasn't exactly in a rush to finish. Even though this one didn't impress me too much, I'll probably keep reading the series. The ending wasn't all that bad, and it actually left me interested to find out what happens next. Plus, I really want to know what happens to a couple of the side characters. So if I end up seeing the sequel in the store or at the library, I'll probably pick it up. However, if you're interested in starting this series, I suggest that you borrow Fallen from the library to find out if you like it first rather than buy it right away.

WWW Wednesday #1

WWW Wednesdays is a weekly meme hosted by Should Be Reading. To participate, you just have to answer three questions in your post:

• What are you currently reading?
• What did you recently finish reading?
• What do you think you’ll read next?

So here are my week's answers to the questions!

What are you currently reading?

As much as I don't want to admit it, I'm a pretty slow reader. I like to take my time instead of rushing through a book. Not to mention that I don't even have that much time in the first place to devote to reading. So even though I started this book on the 12th, I'm still in the process of reading it. As of right now, I don't have any particularly strong feelings about it-I neither love it nor hate it. I guess I'll just have to see how it ends, though.

I'm reading this one for school. We just started it about two days ago, so I'm not that far into it. I'm actually pretty excited about reading this just because it's one of those books that's considered a classic.

What did you recently finish reading?

Surprisingly, I liked this book a lot more than I had originally expected to. It was really cute, and the story was great. If you want to know more about what I thought, you can read the review I already posted.

What do you want to read next?

I've really been wanting to read this for awhile now. So right now it's at number one on my to-read list, although Matched by Ally Condie is also fighting for my attention. If only there was more time for reading.. -.-
